Osprey
The osprey is a large raptor with distinctive brown backs and white undersides and a brown ring around their neck. They construct massive stick nests in tall trees or manmade elevated platforms perched above the brackish marches. Feeding on fish spotted from 150 feet in the air osprey plummet feet first into the water to snatch their prey in powerful feet and talons. Paddlers can circumnavigate the Marine Nature Study Area marshes to view birds on the nesting platform.
